NAB AFL Draft

Players from all over WA nominated by 4 or more AFL  Clubs are invited to attend the NAB AFL National Draft camp held in Canberra. Approximately 75 players attend the camp which runs over 4 days. Players are put through various physical tests in front of AFL Talent Scouts from all 16 AFL Clubs. Players are also put through a series of psychomotor tests, testing their reflexes. AFL Clubs get the chance to have interviews with the players to find a bit more about them before the may decide to draft them in the NAB AFL National Draft which takes place in November each year.

The State screening session is for players who have been nominated by 1-3 AFL Clubs. This session runs for about 3 hours where the players are put through just the physical tests that are conducted at the draft camp.

Only players that are eligible for the draft are allowed to attend the camp and screening sessions. The player must be 17 years of age on or before April 30 of the year of the draft. In 2006 WA had a record 18 players drafted to AFL Clubs.
